1950s Roger Luxus Archtop
Ultra-Rare 1950s Roger Luxus Archtop (Wenzel Rossmeisl "Imprisonment Era") w/ Vintage Herald Sliding Pickup & 1950s Brown Premium Unmarked Hard Shell Case
An extraordinary piece of post-war European lutherie history: a 1950s Roger Luxus archtop guitar, completely optimized for the modern player. Bearing all the hallmark design notes of the legendary Rossmeisl family, this specific instrument features no serial number and no internal factory label. This strongly aligns its production with the chaotic "imprisonment era" of Wenzel Rossmeisl around 1951, when instruments were frequently assembled or smuggled out under severe constraint.
The "German Carve": The top features the deeply contoured, radical edge routing that serves as the unmistakable visual signature of the Rossmeisl lineage.
Premium Tonewoods & Construction: The back and neck are absolute visual showstoppers. The back features a highly figured, two-piece book-matched flamed maple under a stunning, bold red sunburst finish. The neck is Wenzel's legendary heavy multi-laminate design (multi-ply maple with dark wood veneers) built to maximize stability, ending in a classic, cleanly sculpted set-neck heel joint.
Hardware & Upgrades: Features the highly coveted, original proprietary "Roger" engraved harp-style trapeze tailpiece and the original bridge assembly. The tuning stability has been significantly enhanced with a set of vintage gold-plated Grover tuners (undetermined age), providing a smooth, high-performance upgrade.
Player Note on Intonation: While completely functional with its historic factory components, the only improvement left for an avid player would be a transition to a modern ABR-1 style tune-o-matic bridge system to provide more micro-accurate string intonation and tuning precision.
Condition & Overhaul: The top displays honest, gorgeous weather checking and light player wear ("patina") accumulated over seven decades. Crucially, the costly structural hurdles have already been cleared: the neck joint is rock-solid with a perfect angle, and the brand-new frets provide clean, buzz-free playability with low, comfortable action.
